Top transfer destination

No. 1 transfer destination nine years running

For the ninth consecutive year 蹤獲扦 has claimed the #1 transfer destination title, according to data reported by the Kansas Board of Regents. Since 2010, 蹤獲扦 has had more transfer students from community colleges than any other institution in Kansas. The total number of transfer students reported for the three Division I universities in the state for the 2018-19 academic year (the most up-to-date information available) included: 

  • 蹤獲扦- 955 students
  • Kansas State University - 740 students
  • University of Kansas - 683 students

Butler Community College (459 students), Hutchinson Community College (167 students) and Cowley College (145 students) remained the three largest feeders for community college students coming to 蹤獲扦. When including data for transfer students from any institution, 蹤獲扦 Tech (118 students) and Kansas State (65 students) rounded out the top five feeder schools for incoming transfers.

Clinic in a Can fills health care gaps across the globe

  • Michael Wawrzewski, a 1995 physicians assistant grad, has spent his career putting clinics in remote areas.
  • Clinic in a Can, a Wichita-based company, builds custom medical modules in 8-by-20 shipping containers. 
  • Wawrzewski's clinics have found homes across the globe and are helping in the battle against COVID-19. 
  • Pictured above: Clinic in a Can modules include primary care rooms, pharmacies, trauma units, maternal-infant care, radiology, laboratories, isolation units, and even morgues.

Criminal justice professor fights for prisoners' families

Dr. Breanna Boppre, assistant professor of criminal justice (seen above as a child with her father), grew up with both of her parents incarcerated. She brings that experience into her classroom and focuses her research on families of those who are incarcerated.

Our panelists include Dr. Michael Birzer, 蹤獲扦 Professor of Criminal Justice, Davontae Harris, NFL cornerback for the Denver Broncos and member of Mayor Whipple's Civil Rights Advisory Council, and Wichita Police Department Chief of Police Gordon Ramsay.

Real Men Real Heroes

The Fuse needs your help to get community partner $25,000!

Real Men Real Heroes need YOU to help them receive a $25,000 grant!

Real Men Real Heroes is a youth mentoring organization that empowers Wichita youth to help build strong communities. The College of Applied Studies partners with Real Men Real Heroes.

They are one of 10 organizations in the running to be on the Jimmie Johnson Foundation Blue Bunny Helmet of Hope. The five organizations that earn the most votes will receive a $25,000 grant, a Blue Bunny Ice Cream party, and their logo will be featured on Jimmie Johnsons helmet during a NASCAR Cup Race.

KMUW's free keyboard calendar stickers are back for the 2020-21 academic year.  to request a sticker for yourself or your department.

Note that stickers are limited this year, so please do not request more than you / your department will use. Due to COVID-19 precautions, KMUW's office hours are limited and there may be some delay in processing your requests. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Ulrich Museum partners with Smartify App on Community Billboard Project starting July 1

The Ulrich Museum of Art on campus is partnering with the Smartify App to give you complete information on our Ulrich + Artists + You Community Billboard Project, which kicks off across Wichita Wednesday, July 1.

By downloading the free app to your mobile phone, you can access detailed information about each billboard as you pass it on the road (as long as you're not the driver)! Just open the app and hold your phone up to the billboard as you pass by or after you pull over to admire the art -- it's that simple!

The information will also be available online through the Ulrich's website and portal[BROKEN LINK], but using the Smartify app is the quickest and easiest way to get that information while you're actually experiencing the billboards.

The first five billboards that will be unveiled throughout the city on Wednesday are: 308 N. West St.; 481 N. I-135; 957 W. 29th St.; 5218 E. 21st St.; and 1219 E. Douglas. Visit the Ulrich website for a Google map of the locations.
