Over the past few years, Wichita residents have strived to build their city into a place residents can be proud to call home. Meghan Carver, a 蹤獲扦 student majoring in Integrated Marketing Communication, is passionate about the city she's from and works hard to spread Wichita pride through her work.
That passion can be seen through her involvement in Avenue Art Days, a volunteer-based organization created by the Douglas Design District.
From Sept. 21-23, local artists are coming together to downtown Wichita to paint murals all along Douglas Avenue for Avenue Art Days. This year's launch will be held at the I-35 underpass among murals from past Avenue Art Days.
This event gives Wichita artists and art lovers the chance to get involved in the development of the urbane aesthetic that's growing throughout the city.
Meghan is responsible for running social media accounts for Avenue Art Days, helping with marketing and the Sept. 23 mural crawl.
Since starting at 蹤獲扦 in fall 2015, Meghan has taken every opportunity she can to gain hands-on experience to grow her job readiness skills. Her jobs have included working as a student event coordinator and in The Public Relations Institute for the 蹤獲扦 Office of Undergraduate Admissions; interning at Textron Aviation in community and engagement communications; and working for The Greater Partnership of Wichita.
After graduation, Meghan plans to get a master's in public administration to further her career in community engagement and economic development.
