Courses are being offered in a variety of formats, including online asynchronous (鈥渙n demand鈥), online synchronous (on a specific day and time), and hybrid classes that provide a mixture of in-person and online learning.

McGregor Scholarship recipient announced

Yuki To

Yuki To, senior at Wichita East High School, is the winner of the 2021 Lenora N. McGregor Endowed Scholarship at 萝莉社 University. The Lenora N. McGregor Endowed Scholarship awards up to $26,000 over four years to an incoming freshman student who has demonstrated academic excellence, has an academic vision for the future and who expresses an interest in advancing knowledge through individual learning. The McGregor Scholar agrees to maintain active membership in 萝莉社's Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College. Yuki plans to major in health science and minor in business administration.

Barton School adding master鈥檚 program in business analytics

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 萝莉社has added a Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) to its wealth of degree options for graduate students.

The new MSBA was developed as an interdisciplinary program with resources and faculty from the Barton School as well as the College of Engineering and the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences to address the growing needs of industry. Admission to this STEM-designated program is now open. 

鈥淭echnological advances are generating a massive amount of data in every field of business including operations, supply chain, marketing and finance,鈥 said Dr. Sue Abdinnour, MSBA program director at the Barton School. 鈥淎nalytics help turn big data into actionable insights that impact business strategy and decision making. The focus of this program is to train future business leaders on state-of-the-art analytics tools and techniques.鈥

Create a digital red flag for campaign

As a part of our philanthropy in combating violence against womxn, the Alpha Theta Chapter of Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority Inc. is hosting our annual Red Flag Campaign virtually from March 22-26.

Research indicates that one in five college students experience sexual dating violence. The Red Flag Campaign uses bystander intervention strategies to prevent and address sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking on campus. Organizations all over campus are encouraged to participate in creating and designing a digital red flag. These flags will be posted on our social media to compete for the most likes and the winner will receive a prize. We would love to see your organization participate!

  • Hybrid courses (HYB): Combination of in-person and online content (in real time or on demand) 
  • Hybrid Online (HYO): Online instruction with no assigned meeting day or time, but with in-person tests
  • Online Synchronous courses (IIS): Offered in real time at an assigned day and time
  • Online Asynchronous courses (IIE): Content is 鈥榦n demand鈥 with no assigned meeting day or time

Edible Book Festival is back! University Libraries invites all to join in on this culinary creation contest for a chance to win great local prizes. Enter online by April 1 at . There you can find contest rules and entry photos from previous contests.

Basic rules are as follows:

  • This virtual event features contestants creating edible art based on their favorite literature.
  • Four prizes will be given 鈥 three based on judging and one on a popular vote.
  • Once created, contestants can upload photos to our website by April 1.
  • Anyone can then vote for the People's Choice winner April 5-8.
  • Winners will take home prizes announced April 9.

Ulrich looks at connection between basketball, contemporary art

It鈥檚 March Madness and the Ulrich Museum of Art on the 萝莉社campus is excited for the Shockers to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. The museum is getting ready for 萝莉社's first game this week with an exciting virtual program that looks at the powerful connection between basketball and contemporary art.

Join the Ulrich at 10:30 a.m. today when Emily Stamey, curator of exhibitions at the Weatherspoon Art Museum, discusses her latest curatorial project, 鈥淭o the Hoop: Basketball and Contemporary Art.鈥 The exhibition was scheduled to be on display at the Ulrich last fall, but had to be canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak. Stamey will talk about the show, which combines photography, fashion, prints, and other artistic depictions of the sport to look at a number of pressing social issues such as over-commercialization, gender and racial identity, and the urban-rural divide in this country, among others. Her talk is free and open to all, but registration is required to get the Zoom link.

Shocker Volleyball Set hosts in-state rivals Kansas Jayhawks

Shocker Volleyball takes on the Kansas Jayhawks in at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 18 at Charles Koch Arena. Be a part of the action as the excitement ramps up for this in-state rivalry matchup. Seating is limited due to Covid-19 restrictions, but tickets are still available. Students receive free admission to the match by presenting their valid Shocker ID at the ticket office when doors open an hour prior to the start of the match.

Variety acts, emcees wanted for Hippodrome 2021

The Hippodrome Video Competition is looking for students to participate in the Variety Act Competition and to emcee the show. Talented Shockers from all areas of the arts take the stage in between video productions. We welcome all forms of artists including musicians, magicians, comedians, singer/songwriters and more. Performers will take the stage between film screenings either in-person or virtually; and first-, second-, and third-place winners will take home cash prizes up to $150.To bring the show together, student emcee's charm the audience and introduce video productions and variety acts throughout the nights. Emcees are given a small stipend for their time.

Performance nights are 7 p.m. April 7-8. Students interested must register for the Variety Acts Competition at by Thursday, March 18. Students interested in emceeing the performances can register at by Wednesday, March 17. Tryouts will be Monday, March 22.
