I. Call to order: President Hemans called the meeting to order at 3:30 pm

II. Informal Statements and Proposals: none.

III. Approval of the Minutes: the minutes of the meeting of Monday, March 28, 2011 were accepted as presented.

IV. Report on the 蹤獲扦 foundation: Elizabeth King provided an update on the state of the 蹤獲扦 foundation and answered questions from the floor.

V. President's Report:
A. President Hemans announced that a meeting of the AAUP had been held on April 9.
B. President Hemans that the Dependent Tuition Benefit Committee had held their first meeting on April 8. The committee elected Jim Clark as chairperson and started planning for their work next academic year.
C. President Hemans advised that the KBOR Transfer and Articulation Task Force seemed to be nearing completion of its proposal.
D. President Hemans encouraged senators to make nominations for remaining senate seats.

VIII. New Business:
A. Proposal from the ad hoc General Education Committee
: President Hemans summarized the committee's work over the past year, and advised the senate that what the committee proposes is not a completed scheme for general education but a process and timeline for faculty-wide collaboration on general education, together with an outcomes-based focus for general education. President Hemans briefly outlined the process and timeline. Larry Spurgeon, representing the committee, presented a provisional mission statement for outcomes-based general education. There was general discussion. Further discussion of the proposal was deferred until the next meeting.
