Submit a Proposal for Idea Exchange at the National Collegiate Honors Council Annual Conference

Have you led change or created community in an Honors student organization? Have you taught an exciting Honors class? The Idea Exchange is a dynamic opportunity for National Collegiate Honors Council conference attendees to gather new ideas and information about Honors practices and opportunities in an energetic, fast-moving environment.

The goal of Idea Exchange is to engage in thoughtful discussions about new and emerging ideas about your station topic with conference attendees. Creative displays and handouts are highly encouraged to draw attendees to your station. This opportunity is available to both students and faculty.

Attend the Department of History's Spring Lecture

The 蹤獲扦 Department of History's spring lecture will take place on April 4th at 7 p.m. in Jabara 127 and on Zoom. Dr. Martin Nekola, Ph.D., will present "Post-War Czechoslovakia, Communist Coup, and the Cold War Exile." Join WHEAT at Kansas Humane Society

Volunteering at the Kansas Humane Society with WHEAT was rescheduled for the upcoming week. Join Honors students volunteering at the Kansas Humane Society on April 9th at 12:30 p.m. Please RSVP by  or scanning the QR code. 


Honors Ambassadors Application Open Now

We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic students to serve as Honors Ambassadors! Honors Ambassadors assist the Honors College in the recruitment of future Honors students, as well as, represent the Honors College at various events and activities across campus. Honors Ambassadors have the opportunity to meet lots of new people, improve several professional skills, and make a long-lasting impact by sharing their personal stories!

Honors Student Council Applications Open Now

We are looking for students who want to develop as leaders and improve the Honors community to serve on the Cohen Honors College Student Council throughout the 2022-2023 academic year. The Student Council typically meets every Thursday 5 - 6 p.m. and meets at least twice a year with the Faculty Council. To bring an idea or concern to the current Student Council any time, email honorsassistant@wichita.edu.

What does it mean to be a leader in Honors? We have leaders in our labs, classroom, student organizations, and governance. Being a leader in Honors means working to discover your strengths and the strengths of others. Leadership sometimes means standing at the front of the room, but it sometimes means asking a thoughtful question or inviting someone else to speak. It means listening, observing, figuring out what are the greatest needs, and working independently or collaboratively to meet those needs.

Apply for the Battin-Lester and IMA Scholarships by April 15th

The Battin-Lester Corporate Responsibility Fellowships provide funding for students to engage in research and writing about corporate responsibility. Students present their research to a panel of community members during the university's annual Constitution Day celebration. Get more information and apply here.

The Bill Cohen IMA Scholarship is open to full-time students pursuing degrees in business, engineering, and/or the Honors College leadership track.  Students must complete a half-day externship with an insurance company to expose the student to the field and to the importance of corporate social responsibility. Honors Graduate Assistantships Available 

Want to work in a diverse team environment that promotes "More Meaningful Work"? The Cohen Honors College is hiring for two graduate assistant positions.

The Diversity Recruitment and Marketing Graduate Staff Assistant will have primary responsibility in assisting with recruitment of a diverse population of students to the Honors College and will focus on diversity and inclusion in college marketing and communication. This role may be a good fit if you love meeting new people and cultivating an engaging social media presence! The full job description and application can be found .

The Financial Specialist Graduate Staff Assistant will have primary responsibility for budget-related data entry and administrative support to staff in the Honors College. This role may be a good fit for you if you love accounting! The full job description and application can be found .

Nominate an Individual for the Faculty Mentor Award!

This award sponsored by the college each year recognizes a faculty mentor to Honors students inside or outside of the classroom. Prior winners are not eligible for this award. Student members of the Honors community are invited to nominate a faculty mentor with a statement describing in detail what qualifies the faculty member for this award. These mentors could include faculty teaching Honors courses, teaching Honors option contract courses, or mentoring undergraduate research/applied learning.
