MajorPhilosophy - World Philosophy

A Bachelor of Arts (BA) in philosophy with a concentration in world philosophy will help you develop the knowledge and skills needed to understand and appreciate the foundations of the diverse cultures and worldviews found in our increasingly integrated workplaces and global society. Students of world philosophy develop practical skills for promoting cooperation and inclusion, and a broader base for thinking creatively and productively about our collective future. You'll develop your cultural awareness, conceptual sophistication, and evaluative and problem-solving skills to prepare you for careers or further study in many areas, from public policy and administration to international business, medicine, engineering and education.

Curriculum

To complete the philosophy major, you'll take a minimum of 27 credit hours in philosophy, 15 of which must be in courses numbered 300 and above. Your departmental advisor will help you choose courses that fit your academic interests and career goals.

Concentrations in philosophy, such as the concentration in world philosophy, can be earned whether philosophy is your first or second major. As a double major, a BA in philosophy with a world philosophy concentration enriches and adds distinction to many other degrees such as sociology, anthropology, pre-med, business, education and engineering.
