Humans of 蹤獲扦 - Grace

In honor of Transfer Student Week, we are featuring one of our transfer students - Grace Boman. Grace transferred to 蹤獲扦 from Butler Community College because it was close to home and affordable while having great involvement opportunities and degree programs.

Grace is majoring in History and minoring in Japanese.

I chose my major because I have always loved history and wanted to learn more about it, Grace said.

Her goal is to either work as a teacher or in a museum and show students that history isnt boring.

For Grace, adjusting to being a new student despite being in her third year of college was tough.

But everyone has been friendly, she said. No one judges you for how and when you came to 蹤獲扦, they just support you.

Through these supports, Grace has been able to make connections, and Shocker Nation has started to feel like home. Her biggest piece of advice for prospective transfer students is to get involved.

I know everyone says that, but getting involved and meeting people with similar interests is so helpful and a lot of fun," she said.

At 蹤獲扦, Grace has joined Student Ambassador Society and Japanese Culture Association and began working as a Transfer Guide.

I met more people in a week at 蹤獲扦 than I met in my two years at Butler. 蹤獲扦 has helped me get out of my shell and become a more outgoing and fun person. Now, I look forward to meeting new people and doing new things!

This spring, Grace will be able to meet new people and experience new things by studying abroad in Japan. This will enable her to immerse herself in another culture and practice her Japanese all while paying 蹤獲扦 tuition rates!

Were so excited to continue seeing Grace thrive at 蹤獲扦 and cant wait to hear about her study-abroad experience in Japan!
