This grant supported my research, analysis, state and national presentations, and write-up of depictions of lesbian athletes in young adult literature in the past two decades. It resulted in a 2014 publication in English Journal.
- Mason, Katherine. Classroom Library Grant. Ewing Kauffman Foundation, Kansas City, Kansas, Public School District ($7,000.00), 2002 - I wrote and secured this grant for all of the seventh-grade teachers (in all subject areas) at Argentine Middle School, allowing each teacher to select and purchase contemporary young adult texts for his/her classroom library.

I collaborated with five English Dept. colleagues to design and execute PEER, a faculty peer review program intended to introduce the faculty to the basic three types of peer review; provide guidelines and protocols for conducting reviews in a substantive, professional, and credible fashion; and gather data and other information about the value and effectiveness of the program so that it may be improved in the future.

- 2017-present - Editor, Kansas English, is the peer-reviewed journal of the Kansas Association of Teachers of English (KATE) and winner of the 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 Affiliate Journal of Excellence Award of the NCTE. It is published annually. In my role as Editor, I recruit and mentor diverse editorial review board members from across the state and region; solicit manuscript submissions from across the U.S.; lead authors through an anonymized peer review process; oversee three column editors; collaborate with 蹤獲扦 Libraries to publish the journal fully and exclusively online through 蹤獲扦s digital publication platform Open Journal Systems. Acceptance rate is 75%. Past issues are viewable on .
- Fall 2009-Summer 2012 - Co-Editor, SIGNAL Journal. Collaborate with co-editor Jennifer Dail to solicit manuscripts and advertisements, edit and layout pages, co-write an editors column and calls for manuscripts, and distribute journal twice a year to members of SIGNAL (The International Literacy Associations Special Interest Group: Network on Adolescent Literature).
