  • Description of Research 
    • The driving focus of this research is developing an understanding of the causes of work-related musculoskeletal disorder, the advancement of tools and methods for assessment of risk, and the development and testing of ergonomic-related interventions to reduce the magnitude and risk of work-related musculoskeletal disorders.  
    • This includes both laboratory biomechanical-related ergonomics research as well as on-site assessments with industry.

Clinical Experience
  • Capabilities
    • The Human Performance & Design Lab (324 John Bardo Center) contains equipment and processes available to perform both laboratory and on-site biomechanics and ergonomics research and assessments.  
    • This includes an array of biomechanics equipment to capture and assess human movement capabilities and impact of ergonomic interventions including: 5 force plates, 2 wireless 16-channel electromyography systems, inertial motion units, 14-camera infrared motion capture system, accelerometers, load cells, and anthropometers for human body measurements.
    •  On-site ergonomics and biomechanical evaluation capabilities include portable datalogger with electromyography, electrogoniometers, accelerometers for segmental and whole-body vibration measurements, vibration analysis software, power-grip and pinch-grip dynamometers, and push-pull dynamometers, lumbar motion monitor and software to assess risk of low back injury.
