Meet Jordan Cao
Jordan, a sophomore from Wichita, is studying chemistry pre-medicine with minors in history and biology. Hes also involved in several organizations at 蹤獲扦. Learn more about Jordan and how hes involved at 蹤獲扦.
What has been your favorite experience at 蹤獲扦 so far?
My experience has been meeting so many different people. There are so many diverse
cultures, backgrounds, and upbringings here at 蹤獲扦. Its a melting pot of
ideas, just from the different people that represent the school.
What organizations or activities are you involved with at 蹤獲扦?
I am a part of Asian Student Conference, Student Government Association, Ambassadors
for Diversity and Inclusion, and Chi Sigma Tau National Fraternity.
Where is your favorite spot to hang out on campus?
I don't have one spot. Wherever my friends are, I love hanging out with them. Typically,
we hang out at Starbucks in the RSC, but we could be hanging out in the third floor
RSC restroom and Id be okay with it.
Who is a faculty or staff member at 蹤獲扦 that has had a positive impact on you?
Dr. Groutas, hes an organic chemistry professor at 蹤獲扦. Hes a tough professor
and I had to drop his class, but he gave me a wakeup call on the gravity of what I
was studying and how much time I need to put into it. He really showed me I needed
to get my stuff together if I wanted to succeed.
Whats your favorite part of campus life at 蹤獲扦?
This may be redundant, but there are two answers to this theyre both very similar,
though. The first one is meeting all the new people. The second thing is the enthusiasm
that people convey and exude throughout the day. It could be bleak and stormy outside
or it could be sunny and perfect, but people will still exude the same amount of enthusiasm
throughout the day.
What are you currently reading or watching that you are enjoying?
I don't watch TV, but right now Im reading Why Nations Fail. Its a boring book
and I wouldn't recommend it. I read it just to learn, not to enjoy it. Its not a
bad read, just not something I would recommend to people.
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦?
To be completely honest, 蹤獲扦 wasn't my first choice. I was born and raised
in Wichita, but 蹤獲扦 wasn't in my top five choices when it came to colleges.
But it was local and it was the easiest answer to choose. When I was growing up, I
was a big Jayhawk fan, so I had this idea that I was going to become a Jayhawk in
college. My dad was a Shocker and he kind of forced me to go to 蹤獲扦 and
I don't regret it at all because its probably been the best decision Ive ever made.
