Ja'Nae McKelvy: Rising Star in Sport Management

Meet Ja'Nae McKelvy, a dedicated Sport Management student at 蹤獲扦 University, who is making significant strides in her field. After completing an internship with the Kansas City Chiefs as a KC Training Camp Intern this past summer, Ja'Nae is excited to take on a new role as the Fall 2024 intern with the Kansas City Sports Commission & Foundation.

Reflecting on her time with the Chiefs, Ja'Nae shares "One of the highlights from camp," she recalls, "was being able to watch practices and stand on the field with the players." That experience not only deepened her appreciation for the sport but also enhanced her understanding of teamwork and leadership.

At the Kansas City Sports Commission & Foundation, Ja'Nae is already diving into impactful projects. She is currently working on initiatives to make marathons and races more eco-friendly and contributing to the Evelyn Gates Scholarship award. Additionally, she collaborates closely with WIN for KC, a program aimed at empowering girls to pursue sports and believe they can achieve anything in athletics.

Ja'Nae also offers insightful advice for incoming Sport Management majors: "There will be times when it feels like nothing is working out, and you'll wonder if this major is really for you. But if you truly want something, go after it. Every 'no' brings you one step closer to a 'yes.' Even now, I still have doubts on this journey, but when I take a moment to reflect on where I started and compare it to where I am now, it reminds me that I can accomplish anything."

With her passion, perseverance, and positive outlook, Ja'Nae is poised to make a meaningful impact in the world of sports management.
