A 14-year-old boy died Saturday night after he was thrown from a bull during a rodeo held at American Legion Post 290 on South Main Street in King.

According to Brandon Gentry, Director of Emergency Services in Stokes County, units responded to a call for cardiac arrest around 8:24 p.m. at the Rafter K. Rodeo Winter Series.

“He was one of the participants when this happened,” Gentry said. “He was riding a bull and was thrown off.

According to the rodeo's Facebook page, the rider's name was Denim Bradshaw.Bradshaw was riding a bull at the time of the call.

Bradshaw was taken to the hospital, where he later died.Bradshaw's mother, Shannon Bowman released a Facebook post after her son's death.

Rafter K Rodeo Company, LLC, located in Union Grove, released a statement on Facebook in the wake of Bradshaw's death.
