Engineer’s Day is celebrated in India every year on September 15 to honor and commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.

Engineer’s Day  provides an opportunity to appreciate the contributions made by engineers in the development of India.

He was the first Civil Engineer of India and is known for his revolutionary contributions in the field of Engineering.

Vishweshvaraya has also been rewarded with many prestigious awards for the same.

 Sir Mokshagundam Vishveshwaraya was born in the year 1861 in a village called Muddenahalli in Karnataka  Visvesvaraya completed his graduation in Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of Madras

he was directly (without any interview) recruited by Government of Bombay and appointed as Assistant Engineer in the Public Works Department.

In 1955, the government of India conferred him with the highest civilian honour -- the Bharat Ratna -- along with Jawaharlal Nehru
