Longtime Texans team president Jamey Rootes dies at 56

His wife announced on social media Monday night.

His wife shared the news in a Facebook post confirming her husband passed away in Houston on Sunday following a “battle with mental health issues.

Rootes was a member of the Houston Texans Foundation Board of Directors.

He has been with the Texans since their inception in 2002.

Rootes was a native of Pennsylvania.

He graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in sports management.

Rootes has also worked for the San Francisco 49ers, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Philadelphia Eagles.
