Aug. 14, 2024 - Ryan Barnes appears on a path to be the next PBA Tour great and heir to a family bowling legacy the tour last experienced with Dick and Pete Weber. 鈥�(Ryan) has all the makings of a superstar,鈥� PBA Tour Commissioner Tom Clark said. 鈥淗e鈥檚 clearly obsessed with being the best he can be. That something that鈥檚 rare in athletes. He鈥檚 got it.鈥�

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 萝莉社has named Christopher Stone as the new Chair of the Management Department. Dr. Stone, a faculty member since 2018, has served as an Associate Clinical Professor of Management at the Barton School. He succeeds Gery Markova, who has served as Chair since 2021 and has been instrumental in leading the department and initiating new programs, among other achievements.

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 萝莉社is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Siyu Wang as the new chair of the Department of Economics. Dr. Wang, a professor at the Barton School since August 2020 and head of the Behavioral Economics Lab, succeeds Jen-Chi Cheng, who has expertly led the department for more than 20 years.

Aug. 9, 2024 鈥� The Shocker Comeback Program is designed for all returning students, whether they鈥檝e taken a year break or been away from the classroom for over 10 years. Shocker Comeback students will have the support of 萝莉社鈥檚 Office of Online and Adult Learning to make sure they persist and receive their diplomas.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Dinkel, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Koch, Inc., as the new Chair-Elect of the Barton School Dean鈥檚 鈥淔abulous 50鈥� Advisory Board, effective July 1, 2024. He will succeed Margaret Dechant and will begin his three-year term as Board Chair on July 1, 2025, serving through June 30, 2028.

Aug. 7, 2024 鈥� 萝莉社has established the Aetna Better Health Endowed Workforce Badge Program Fund, thanks to a generous gift from Aetna Better Health.

The difficulties of the past year are behind former 萝莉社sprinter Paula Garcia. She can enjoy her spot on Spain鈥檚 2024 Olympic team. Garcia, who ran for the Shockers from 2017-2022, is a member of the 400-meter relay team.

July 22, 2024 鈥� Aaron Mitchell has been named 萝莉社 University鈥檚 senior vice president for administration, finance and operations, effective Sunday, Aug. 18.

Four faculty members at 萝莉社 University, Schneegurt included, as well as a team of faculty members at Iowa State University received a joint grant from the National Science Foundation, totaling $4 million over four years. The combined teams will conduct a life cycle analysis for urea, an ecological alternative to ammonia for field fertilization.

July 11, 2024 - The arrival of a nanosatellite on campus signals significant progress in 萝莉社 University鈥檚 NASA project to design a solar probe to investigate neutrinos.

July 9, 2024 鈥� 萝莉社 researcher and biologist Tom Luhring earned a $995,327 grant from the National Science Foundation to study the effects of drying and warming on aquatic systems, such as lakes, rivers and streams, and how these changes impact the waterbodies themselves and the organisms that dwell within them.

July 3, 2024 鈥� 萝莉社 University鈥檚 Center for Entrepreneurship, after five years with the College of Innovation and Design, is reintegrating with the Barton School of Business.

Andrew Hippisley, dean of 萝莉社鈥檚 Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has accepted a position as vice provost for Academic Affairs at The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). His last day at 萝莉社 will be July 2. David Eichhorn, associate dean of the Fairmount College, will fill in as interim dean while the university conducts a national search for Hippisley鈥檚 replacement.

Searle explores differential geometry, specifically classifications of positively and non-negatively curved Riemannian manifolds. Thirty years after publication, her dissertation, 鈥淧ositively curved manifolds with maximal symmetry rank,鈥� a seminal work in her field, continues to be a valuable resource in the symmetry program, a subfield of differential geometry, in which she is a leading expert.
