Faculty nominations sought for president's distinguished service award
Do you know a faculty member who is deeply engaged in service? Do you know A faculty member who exemplifies any of the following?
- Distinguished service to the university
- Distinguished service to the community
- Notable outreach efforts and/or forging of connections between 蹤獲扦 and the community.
- Long-term commitment to 蹤獲扦 through extensive committee service
Consider nominating them for the Presidential Service Award. Please send your nominations to leeann.birdwell@wichita.edu. Complete a nomination form and attach a CV that includes the nominees service activities. Previous recipients of this award are not eligible for nomination. The deadline is 5 p.m. Feb. 24.
Award for Research/Creative proposals due Feb. 12
The Award for Research/Creative projects due date has been extended, and proposals are now due to the Office of Research no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12. The award provides funding of up to $4,000 to enable faculty to pursue research or creative projects during the summer. Proposers must work with a grant specialist in the Office of Research prior to submission, and all complete applications require approval from the chair and dean. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration highlights and memorializes the work, accomplishments and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The virtual event will take place at 6:30 p.m. today. This year's keynote speaker is Dr. Michael Waters, founder and lead pastor of the Abundant Life AME Church in Dallas, Texas.
The ODI is excited to announce the 2021 Drum Major Award recipient Counseling and Prevention Services, Dr. Selena Jackson. She will be recognized at the virtual program.

Do you know a senior student who embodies the Shocker spirit? This highly competitive honor is awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding scholarship, leadership, involvement at 蹤獲扦 and service to 蹤獲扦 and the surrounding community. The Senior Honor is one of the most prestigious honors a 蹤獲扦student can receive, with only 10 students selected each year. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19. SGA scholarships now open
The Student Government Association is excited to open its annual scholarships for the 2021-2022 academic year. Each year SGA awards about $80,000 to students on campus through four scholarships:
- James J. Rhatigan Leadership Scholarship
- International Student Scholarship
- SGA Endowed Scholarship
- SGA Summer Scholarship

GRASP 2021 abstract submission closes Feb. 11
The Graduate School is now accepting abstract submissions for the 17th annual Graduate Research and Scholarly Projects (GRASP) Symposium. GRASP 2021 will be held on Blackboard again this year with video presentations open for 蹤獲扦 Community viewing starting on April 2. Please encourage your graduate students to take advantage of this opportunity to showcase their research. Abstract submission closes on Feb. 11.
