Advising Appointments

Advising focuses on helping students progress toward their educational objectives and career goals. To schedule an appointment, call (316) 978-3203, or stop by the Barton School Student Success Center in Woolsey Hall, Room 129.

Who is my Advisor?

Students are not assigned to a specific business advisor. Students are welcome to see any business advisor, but may request to see a certain business advisor if they choose.

Who is required to see a Business Advisor?

Business students who are REQUIRED to see a business advisor before they can enroll are:

  • First Semester Transfer Students to the Barton School of Business (includes current 蹤獲扦 students from other colleges on-campus)
  • Graduating Seniors from Business (students also have the option to fill out the  form to be cleared without meeting with an academic advisor)
  • Business Students with Academic Holds (for example, readmitted through exceptions)

Students are welcome to make an appointment to see an academic advisor for enrollment, academic issues, or other concerns.

Accounting

A is available to any student whose major field or area of emphasis is outside of accounting.

Business Analytics

uses tools and models to analyze past data, visualize it, predict future performance and gain insight into developing business strategies for the future. A business analytics minor will give students an overview of descriptive, predictive and prescriptive models using advanced Excel and other tools.

Economics

A is available to any student whose major field or area of emphasis is outside of economics.

Entrepreneurship

is open to 蹤獲扦 undergraduate students from all colleges who meet the following criteria.

  • Overall GPA for minor must be 2.250 or better;
  • Students must be a junior in good standing in their major (college); and
  • Students must have completed 12 credit hours at 蹤獲扦.
Finance

A is available to any student whose major field or area of emphasis is outside of finance.

General Business

A is available to any student who is not pursuing a degree in the Barton School of Business.

Human Resource Management
In addition to the major, there are two options for a : a minor that requires advanced standing in the Barton School, and a minor for nonbusiness majors that does not require advanced standing. Students in the Barton School are not eligible for the nonbusiness minor.
Information Systems for Accountants 
MINOR IN INFORMATION SYSTEMS FOR ACCOUNTANTS
This minor is designed specially for current accounting majors. To achieve this minor, students must maintain a minor GPA of 2.250. Each course must receive C or higher.
Accounting majors at the Barton School of Business may choose to pursue the information systems for accountants minor by completing the following requirements.

Information Technology and Management Information Systems (ITMIS)
A is available to any student whose major field or area of emphasis is outside of information technology and management information systems.
International Business

is open to 蹤獲扦 undergraduate students from all colleges who meet the following criteria:

  • Overall GPA for minor must be 2.250 or better;
  • Student must be a junior in good standing in their major (college); and
  • Student must have completed 12 credit hours at 蹤獲扦.
Management
A is available to any student whose major field or area of emphasis is outside of management. 
Marketing
A is available to any student whose major field or area of emphasis is outside of marketing.
Operations Management
A management is available to any student whose major field or area of emphasis is outside of operations management.
 Personal Selling
A is available to any student whose major field or area of emphasis is outside of personal selling.
