What is Exam Grading?

The Social Science Research Lab grades exams for 蹤獲扦 instructors who wish to use bubble sheets as answer sheets for their exams. Differential item weighting and up to three different forms of the exam are supported (versions A, B, C, etc.). Results for each student including the items each student missed, a raw score, a percent score and other statistics are generated for the instructor. Additionally, a complete analysis and overall statistical information about the exam are available for the instructor. You may request your results to be either printed, sent to you via email as a pdf, or both.  Only one of the four reports can be sent as a csv file.

The students' answers must be on a rust (five response) scanner bubble form. Scanner bubble forms are available through our office at 429 Lindquist Hall. The scanner cannot read copied forms. Students must use a pencil. Ink can not be read by the scanner.

Exam Grading Options:

Our Exam Grading Services include multiple report options including two additional services in grading an exam.  The reports and additional options are explained below.

Reports

1.      Student Statistics Report Provides a quick view to see how students performed on the exam.

2.      Student Score Histogram Report Provides a histogram on raw score distribution for an exam.

3.      Student Response Report Provides a class view of all responses by student and question.

4.      Condensed Test Report Provides answer choice frequency information for each question on the exam.

Grading using a PPRM

Grading an exam with a PPRM allows the instructor to weigh the questions on the exam to be worth more than one point.  Instructors may even weigh a question to be worth half a point.  A bubble sheet will need to be provided along with the key.  The total points of the exam will be adjusted according to the information on the PPRM.

Grading using a MAP

A Mapped Exam is one in which the instructors have multiple forms/versions of the same exam (A, B, C, etc.).   Instructors must submit a separate key for each version of the exam.  All test versions must have the same number of questions, same point value, and answer choices must be in the same order. Only the questions can be scrambled.

Simply bring your exams to the SSRL in429 Lindquist Hall and fill out an Exam Grading Request form. The exams will then be scanned and graded within 4 hours. We will then call you or your department when the grading process is complete.
