Inside the Program

Student group works to improve public health during the pandemic

Public health science students collaborated with campus organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Senior capstone students worked with Student Health Services during the fall semester on mitigation strategies. In the spring, students created a plan for distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine to students and faculty, and  developed .

Students celebrate National Public Health Week annually by volunteering in the community and displaying health educational materials around campus.

Curriculum

The minor in health science consists of 18-19 credit hours and includes the following courses:

  • Introduction to the U.S. Healthcare and Administration
  • Epidemiology
  • Culturally Informed Healthcare
  • Foundations of Healthcare Policy, Law and Ethics
  • One course chosen from the areas of biology, chemistry, health ethics, health science or general health professions
