There are thousands of routes to becoming who you were meant to be, and 蹤獲扦
University's Adult Learning program can help support and guide you along the journey. Below is a sampling of how some of our returning adult students found their way back to
college -- and success -- through 蹤獲扦.
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? My husband, sister, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law all went to school at 蹤獲扦. When
we moved to Kansas City almost 7 years ago I was a bit defeated that I wouldn't be
able to attend 蹤獲扦, then the online Anthropology program was added and I knew it was
meant to be.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I already have so many credit hours that I get asked all the time "Why go back for
a degree -- especially in something like anthropology?" Most people don't even know
what anthropology means. For me, it's important to obtain a degree in something I'm
passionate about. Yes, I have two associate's degrees in the healthcare and business
fields, however, these fields are not what I am passionate about. I want to research
our past and help our future at the same time. Through archaeological processes, I
can do just that!
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Don't listen to everyone else when it comes to deciding your future plans, goals,
and career choices! You are the one who will be living with those decisions, do what
makes you happy, even if it is scary!
Is there anyone that has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? My advisor Jacquelyn Johnston has listened to me for what feels like the past decade
whine, begrudge the fact that I MUST take College Algebra, and helped guide me along
this epic journey of adult learning and she does it all with a smile that I can see
and feel through a computer screen! (I don't know how she does that either!) Jacquelyn
helped me to navigate the DegreeWorks system and answers all of my crazy questions,
even when I don't ask them in a way that makes any kind of sense. I'm telling you,
she has the Force of a Jedi and I owe a debt of gratitude to her.
My advisor helped me to navigate the DegreeWorks system and answers all of my crazy
questions, even when I don't ask them in a way that makes any kind of sense.

Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? When I was younger I was a Wallace Scholar right out of high school. Affordably, this
is the best idea. It worked with work, it worked for the kids, it worked with everything.
It was an easy fit.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? November 14, 2015 is the day my grandpa died and one of the things he wanted me to
do was get my bachelor's degree. I figured I would go back and fix some of the things
I messed up. I was just going to enroll in a calculus class originally, then I realized
I could take a few more and a few more became 15 hours and 15 hours became four and
a half years and three degrees.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? I would do exactly what I did again. Hold tight and have fun.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Do the research and figure out your own path.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? There's not been just one person, because everyone has rallied behind me. Most instrumental
would be my wife, when I had to quit my job to finish school, she said okay.
蹤獲扦 It worked with work, it worked for the kids, it worked with everything. It was an
easy fit.
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? I wanted to attend a national recognized and respected school.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? The ease, the transition -- 蹤獲扦 made it real simple. I picked up right where I left
off.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Do not give up and do not lose confidence in yourself.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Take a look around, see how much they have to offer. Ease into what you are passionate
about and go after it.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? My wife Holly Putnam Jackson, Kaye Monk Morgan, My mother who assures me I'll be okay.
The ease, the transition -- 蹤獲扦 made it real simple. I picked up right where I left
off.

Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? Because it was the only thing that was fully online. Fort Hays was online, but they
wanted me to be half a day para and half a day teaching.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I started as a high school guest, jumped around to other places, but landed back here.
I graduated in May 2019.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Don't transfer all over the place because a four-year degree has taken me seven years.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Go for it! They are super accommodating. If you have a problem, they have a solution.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? Liz Roberts - TAPS success coach.
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? The convenience of being right in town and I had heard great things from alumni of
the social work program.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I started to college right after high school at Fort Hays State University to be a
biology major. I didn't do well and after only a year moved back home because I didn't
know what I wanted to do. I bought a new car and found a decent paying job at a call
center in Wichita. What was meant to be a short break turned into about 10 years.
One day at work I was tired of the politics of the call center and decided I was going
back to school. I went home that night and completed my FAFSA and applied to Cowley
County Community College. I wanted to be a dental hygienist. I got enrolled and completed
mostly online classes. I then realized that the smell of bad breath made me ill, so
maybe that was not right for me. I decided that I would take a Certified Nurse Aide
class so I could get in the medical field and work the rest of the way while I finished
my associates and, later, bachelor's degree. I ended up quitting the call center because
they were not supportive of my need for time off for classes.
At that time my fiance became sick. After a lot of medical issues I was able to use
my CNA skills to care for the one I loved the most. Unfortunately, he ended up passing
away, and I found out that had he been able to get a sonogram to diagnose the problem
earlier, he may have had a different outcome. I changed my major to pre-sonography,
but shortly afterward found out I was pregnant. I paused my education to raise my
baby and focus on him and working to provide for him.
After he was done nursing, I decided it was time to get back to school. I had a good
friend who had just finished her Masters in Social Work and she told me I would be
a good social worker, so I decided I would look into it. I started classes in June
2016, 15 years after I had originally started my college journey, but while I was
taking my summer classes I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
I was angry. I was finally on my way to where I wanted to be again after life derailing
me multiple times. My oncologist advised me there was no way I would be able to complete chemo
and all the required surgeries and work and go to school, so I had to choose work
or school. Unfortunately work had to win because I needed to work to have insurance.
I ended up completing chemo, radiation, a bilateral mastectomy, a hysterectomy and
then a reconstruction surgery -- but I carefully scheduled surgeries and appointments
on summer and winter breaks to get back on track. Here I am almost 3 years later getting
my bachelor's degree and will start my masters this summer, cancer-free!
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Ignore everyone else's journey and timeline and expectations. Focus on you and your
story. Crossing the finish line is just as great at 36 as it would have been at 22.
The end result is where your focus should be, not the journey it took to get you there
or seeing others beat you to the finish line.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Don't let the campus intimidate you or the size of the classes. There are some of
the most caring faculty at this school and if you want to succeed, they will help
you get there!
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? BreAnn Gilkey was my advisor in the social work program and also in charge of practicum
placement. When I told her my goal was to find a practicum on my own that I could
start as a new job that would replace my full time job, she encouraged me. She saw
me through my meltdown when a job fell through and recommended somewhere that was
not even on my radar. My new job has been a blessing for me. They want me to do well
in school, the pay is better than my previous pay and the benefits are amazing, so
it has added so much to my family situation. I have learned so much about what social
work is and the real-life ups and downs of the field. I have been able to network
and meet people that will help me in the future. BreAnn congratulated me when I was
hired and told me she never doubted me. I will never be able to thank her for all
that she has done to help me succeed!
There are some of the most caring faculty at this school and if you want to succeed,
they will help you get there!
Hometown: Haven, KS Major: Workforce Leadership and Applied Learning
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? I work at 蹤獲扦 Tech so it was the obvious choice, but I also had an Aunt who was an
alumni and we all thought the world of her. The ease of being able to come talk to
someone is a big plus, as well.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? All of my friends went to college after high school. I feel like I'm more ready for
it now, but if I would have done it back in the day, it probably wouldn't have meant
as much.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Slow down, appreciate what you have at the moment.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Just talk to somebody to get started. Don't be intimidated by it.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? A lot of people. My advisor Tierney Mount, Bobby Berry, Mike Ross, everybody has been
super helpful.
Just talk to somebody to get started. Don't be intimidated by it .
Hometown: Cedar Vale, KS Major: Elementary Education
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? I chose to attend 蹤獲扦because I was excited for the opportunity
to be in the Teacher Apprentice Program (TAP). It was very appealing to have the
ability to gain classroom experience as a teacher in a school as well as attend online
courses to gain the knowledge of the content I need in the classroom.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? If you would have asked me five years ago if I ever thought of being an educator I
probably would have laughed out loud. I did not think I was capable to teach and to
manage a classroom. it frankly scared me a bit. While I was living in Florida I began
to coach a softball team for a local private school. During that time I realized that
coaching is about teaching athletes how to play a sport, but it was also so much more.
Coaching was building relationships with my athletes, and once those relationships
were built I could coach them in any skill needed. After a game one day an administrator
for the private school I was coaching for asked if I would like to teach at their
school. It took me awhile to connect the dots, to understand that teaching is like
coaching. The relationships you build determine how effectively you can teach. Let's
just say I accepted the job offer and I haven't regretted it since. I love the fact
that I can go to work everyday and see students that I have built relationships with,
the absolute joy is seeing these students grow and mature into young people that have
the ability to make a difference.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? I would tell myself to never doubt your ability. There was a time when I was younger
I thought teaching would be a great career, As I grew older I decided, like many other
college students, on about four different majors before I settled for my first degree
in business. I should have never doubted and started in education. If I had done that
I would have been able to have more years in the job I love!
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? I would tell them to go for it!! It has been the best decision for me! :)
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? I absolutely love my professor Elizabeth Roberts. Her positive attitude and outlook
make learning in her classes super fun! She has a genuine care for the students and
even in online learning can build effective relationships!
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? In my opinion 蹤獲扦 is a excellent university. I chose 蹤獲扦 because of the diversity
that is present and the courses that are offered. So far I am enjoying learning from
the outstanding professors that I have had so far.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? As an African-American woman who has been out of school for over 30 years, my experience
thus far has been simply tremendous. From day one I have received nothing but outstanding
support from each professor, as well as from those in administration. Returning to
college and having the opportunity to complete my education is a goal that means everything
to me and I feel so very blessed to be a student at 蹤獲扦 University. What
is unique about my Shocker Story is that I am a senior citizen and I am a African-American
woman. Two powerful strikes that society says are not possible accomplish.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? I would tell my younger self "Your education is worth the fight and never quit because
you are a winner." I would tell my younger self, "You deserve to be on the top and
don't accept anything in between or anything less" I would tell my younger self, "Hard
work and consistency are worth it."
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? I would tell them choosing 蹤獲扦 is the start of a great future for your entire life.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? Professor Robert Bubp and Professor Megan St. Clair.
Choosing 蹤獲扦 is the start of a great future for your entire life.
Hometown: Brooklyn, NY Major: Computer Engineering
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? To get a better understanding of the computer world.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I was in the army for 12 years and it's been a hard adjustment to getting used to
regular life. It's close to 10 years since I was in school and I'm relearning how
to be in school again.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Don't wait to go to school.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Know what you want to do for your career. Even if it means you have to take challenging
classes like calculus.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? My trigonometry teacher Sandy Peer.
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? 蹤獲扦 offers a well-reviewed Teacher Apprentice Program (TAP).
What is unique about your Shocker Story? After graduating a community college here in Kansas and having two kids, I got a job
as a para. I fell in love with teaching students and watching them learn. I received
an email that 蹤獲扦 offers a program that allows me to go to school while
remaining and working as a para. A teacher at the school I work at retires next year,
which is when I will be able to be a teacher through the program. It was like a guiding
light and I decided to go back to school to do something I love -- teaching -- and
still be able to be something I love -- a mom. 蹤獲扦 made it possible.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Try harder, save more, and blue hair is the way to go.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Make sure you are devoted to your dream, it takes work, a lot of it and it takes support,
a lot of it. 蹤獲扦 offers amazing support and educators that focus on your success.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? A teacher in Yates Center, Samantha Bishop, has continued to push me towards my dream.
Also, my success coach here at 蹤獲扦, Meredith Compton, she has been absolutely amazing
and supportive.
I decided to go back to school to do something I love -- teaching -- and still be
able to be something I love -- a mom. 蹤獲扦 made it possible.
Hometown: McPherson, KS Major: Business Management
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? I chose to continue my education at 蹤獲扦 because Wichita is only an hour
away from my home. If I need anything at the college it isn't too far of a drive.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I am a single mother of three who works full-time at Pfizer and attends college full-time.
After transferring to 蹤獲扦 last fall, I managed to get on the Dean's List. That has
never happened to me in all my school years. However, last semester has been challenging
for me and not just because of the classes but because my father passed away. I was
really close to him and took it really hard. I wasn't going to mention anything to
my professors about losing him and the hard time I had fallen on but I noticed that
my concentration was slipping so I decided to message them and apologize for my work
slowing down and explained the situation. Much to my surprise they all understood
and gave me an extension on my school work. I will forever be grateful to my professors
for their help and understanding this semester. This semester has been tough for me
as well as I haven't completely understood my statistics class. My professor offered
to tutor me at her home to help me understand it better. All of the professors I have
come to know and have the pleasure of being taught by have been wonderful, accepting,
and understanding.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? You can do anything that you put your mind to.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? You won't regret going to 蹤獲扦. All of the professors are wonderful. They will do whatever
they need to help you in any situation to the best of their abilities.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? My father Rick Heim was a great supporter and believed in me when I didn't believe
in myself. Dave Johnson, a co-worker, has been there when I needed someone to vent
to. Someone who has had faith and believed that I could succeed even when I had my
doubts and wanted to quit.
You won't regret going to 蹤獲扦. All of the professors are wonderful. They will do whatever
they need to help you in any situation to the best of their abilities.
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? When I decided to continue my education to receive my teaching license, I really had
my heart set on 蹤獲扦. I was excited about their Teacher Apprentice Program
(TAP), and I continually asked questions to the advisor of the TAP program, who always
completely answered my questions.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I decided to fulfill my dream of becoming a teacher at age 36. I started volunteering
to teach Religious Education to 1st grade at my church. After the first class, I went
home and told my husband - THIS IS WHAT GOD PUT ME ON EARTH TO DO! We discussed going
back to school, and what that would mean for our family and our 3 small children.
I decided to just go for it and here I am, almost 3 years later, a year away from
graduating from 蹤獲扦 with my BA in Elementary Education! I went to college right after
high school, but life happened, and I quit. I decided I wanted to get my teaching
degree from 蹤獲扦, but I had a lot of prerequisites to finish first, so I
started at Hutchinson Community College at their Newton Campus. I graduated with my
AA in the spring of 2018. I applied to 蹤獲扦 shortly after graduation, and began applying
to be a paraeducator since that was a part of being enrolled in the TAP at 蹤獲扦.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Don't quit school! Finish, no matter how hard you think it may be. Find yourself a
support system, whether it be online or in person. Keep at it and believe in yourself!
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? You can do it! 蹤獲扦 has many online options for adult learners, and it is challenging
but it is so worth it. Being organized is key to being successful! 蹤獲扦 is full of
helpful instructors, mentors and other students. I have made some great connections
even being in an online program where I don't actually "see" other students.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? Emily Stevens, the TAP advisor, helped me so much, first to get my prerequisites,
then while I was applying to jobs, and finally now when signing up for classes. She
is always quick to respond to emails and always so helpful.
蹤獲扦 has many online options for adult learners, and it is challenging but it is so
worth it. I have made some great connections even being in an online program where I don't

What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? There are a good set of teachers out here. They are encouraging. I felt more like
a number at another school. Here the teachers see you through. Don't worry so much.

Shout-Out"? Dr. Burke. It's the whole geology department. Dr. Parcell, Dr. Bischoff, Toni Jackman.
You can tell that they love what they do. It feels like a group of us are finishing.
Not just one of us or a random thing. I knew farming, not geology. They were really
nice. There was one girl, Adriana who helped me.

are alumni.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I am a returning adult learner who initially postponed my educational pursuits in
the interest of world traveling that was offered to me through a record deal. I returned
8 years later for a year but had to postpone my education again due to my wife's cancer
diagnosis. We moved to Nashville where she was treated until she became cancer-free.
蹤獲扦's online program allowed me to finish my education from afar.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Embrace diversity and take wild elective courses. It helps you absorb other perspectives.
Also, apply for more scholarships.

Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? I chose to attend 蹤獲扦 for many reasons. I was born and spent many summers
in Wichita with my grandparents. I always loved 蹤獲扦 sports and always understood the
college to be one of the best in Kansas in many areas.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I am a really nontraditional student. It took me 12 years to get my associates degree
so being here at 蹤獲扦 is a major accomplishment. Being that I'm all the way in southeast
Kansas, I am a completely online student. The flexibility to allow me to continue
my education at home is wonderful.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? I would have told myself not to "take a break" and go straight to college. It took
me so long to get where I am now.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Make sure to talk to your academic advisor and get your plans in order. Talk to your
professors. They are awesome people. Most importantly: Lean back and enjoy the ride.

Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? Because it is the hometown University, but I went to Butler before 蹤獲扦. I also know

Wichita is where home was. I choose 蹤獲扦 because it is close to home.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I have been in school for 22 years, and in that duration of time, I have had 30 surgeries.
So my transcript reflects each time I had major surgery, and how many times I fell,
but persevered and tried again. My story is: I never gave up. I went from not being
able to speak to not being able to walk, having both hips replaced. Learning to talk
again, learning to walk again, learning to work again and learning to be a student
all over again.

my future.
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? I chose 蹤獲扦 because it was a good value and because I had heard the business
school was well respected in the community.

What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Give it a try.

everything I need. They are amazing people. I've been through a lot of hardships.
I want to thank everyone on the CARE team and all my professors who have helped get
me through it.
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? 蹤獲扦 offered the classes that I needed to fulfill my requirements to apply for medical
school, and they were offered at a time where I could keep my full-time job.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? Due to certain circumstances that happened in late 2013, I had to put school on hold
for a little while. I never gave up on my dream of going back and finishing what I
started 6 years ago, even after starting a family.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Concentrate on myself. Put myself first.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Go for it, if you know that's what you want. Don't hold back or be hesitant.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? My parents.

Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? I had went here before when I was younger and I am from Wichita and I have always
wanted my degree to come from 蹤獲扦.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? After high school I went right to college and got my associates and then continued
at 蹤獲扦, but money became an issue and i had to drop out of college and move back in
with my parents. After a couple of years I was able to move out of my parents house
but money was still tight and I never as able to go back to school. 11 years later,
after moving to Texas, getting married and finally finding a good job, it felt like
the right time to go back to school! I called 蹤獲扦 and they were there with open arms
and wonderful people to help me get started! I have 3 more classes and I will graduate
December 2019. With the support of my husband, family, friends, job, and 蹤獲扦 personnel
I am on my way!
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? That it will be OK. That to take one class at a time and not to give up!
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? It is a great school! Even though I go online I still feel like part of the school!

Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? I moved here about 8 years ago and I wanted to come back to school and this seemed
like the perfect spot for me.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I have a cosmetology license. After having kids, I put my goals aside. Now that my
kids are in school, I use that to inspire them to keep going to school. I bring my
kids here and they ask if they are going to go to school here and I tell them yes
you are.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Push yourself to better yourself. I was free-spirited; focused on other things, not
school.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Go for it. You don't know what you're capable of until you try.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? My husband has been really supportive of me going back to school. I'm not working,
so he's supporting our family. I really appreciate him a lot. My kids inspire me too,
they always ask me if I have homework. My kids help me de-stress. My family is my
support.
Go for it. You don't know what you're capable of until you try.

Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? I chose to attend 蹤獲扦 because of the convenience of their TAP program and
affordability. Compared to other programs in the state, it ranked the highest for
me. I am also partial to 蹤獲扦 because my husband's uncle has drawn WuShock!
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I am a first-generation college student. I started college in 2002, but never became
a licensed teacher because of going into Law Enforcement. I had just been given custody
of my sister's three kids at the age of 22. I would work 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., go to classes
from 8 a.m. to noon, sleep for 3 hours, pick up kids from school and do it all over
again. I loved being in law enforcement, but in my heart, teaching children was always
where I wanted and needed to be. I left law enforcement and have substituted or taught
reading in three different school districts. In 2015, I took custody of my youngest
niece and put furthering my education on hold. Now that she is 18, I want to show
her that hard work, determination, and faith in yourself will get you places. I currently
work full time for USD 305, part time at Hobby Lobby, and am taking a full course
load with a 4.0 GPA.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Continue to follow your dreams, no matter the obstacles you face. Study more and work
less, you will have the rest of your life to work.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Visit the campus, talk with the employees, and get to know the programs that 蹤獲扦 has

Beard my Success Coach; she has truly been one of my rocks during all of this. She
is always available, no matter the time.

Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? Seemed like the best place to go to school for me.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I never thought I would go to college. Just being here doesn't even seem real sometimes.
It still hasn't 100 percent sunk in yet.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Don't give up. You can do anything you set your mind to. Choose your friends wisely.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Just go. There are a lot of people here to help you.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker

hope to be and he has given me good advice. He used to be a professor, so I found
he has good insight. He's helped make the journey a lot easier.

Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? I was at 蹤獲扦 Tech and am attending 蹤獲扦 via the Shocker Pathway program.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? It was a lifetime goal to be a learner. I've always wanted a degree, just for the
challenge of going to a university. It's been all that is says to be. You have to
have the discipline to go. I've come up against some obstacles, but I've been able
to overcome them. It takes focus.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Sacrifice. I would have sacrificed more as my younger self.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Be prepared for the tougher classes. Don't give up. Want that challenge. All professors
are different. Be prepared for a lot of self-teaching. Be able to find answers on
your own. The more independent you are, the more valuable you are.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? It takes a team. One of the key players would be Jan Walcott. It was a one-credit,
two-week course. She was the first instructor I had. The professors have been doing
it long enough, they know how to approach us and get to us, to pull the best out of
us. Dr Mi, she was database management and she was very energetic and had a bunch
of material to go through and could do it well. There is a slew of them.
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? For the past few years I have wanted to finish the degree I started right out of high
school. 蹤獲扦 has a reasonable price and is well-respected in the Wichita
community.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I am much younger than many of my peers in business, but much older than many of my
classmates. I had three semesters of college right out of high school, so I transferred
in to 蹤獲扦 as a sophomore. I have a lot of responsibilities outside 蹤獲扦, including
a full time (40-50 hours a week) job and family (wife and two daughters).
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? College isn't for everyone but it can really help you get ahead, if you're willing
to work at it. Time management and note-taking skills are essential to success, but
so is reaching out for help when you need it.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? 蹤獲扦 is a great college with incredible opportunities for their students and faculty.
The campus is large and expanding with a mix of new and old buildings, and partnerships
with local businesses mean you can get easy exposure to internships and job opportunities.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker

Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? I was initially interested in Social Work and 蹤獲扦 has an excellent Social Work program.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I think the path I took is fairly typical of a returning adult student, but my opportunities

If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Make a decision on a major sooner rather than later.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? 蹤獲扦 has the most wonderful leadership and professors. The student-to-professor ratio
gives you the chance to have a close learning relationship with your teachers. It

What is unique about your Shocker Story? I'm a new mom with an almost-2-year-old son. I'm also living in a multigenerational
home. So I live with my toddler, my fiance and my finance's grandmother. There was
a six year gap between high school and college.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? The world is bigger than you are. It's something you have to grow into. Everyone has
a story that is influencing the way they are living it.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Go for it! This is going to be your best chance at getting the college experience.
All of my professors have been amazing. I've always felt like my professors were real

What is unique about your Shocker Story? I started working before I came to school. I found want I want to do. I have a clear

Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? It's my hometown school, had a lot friends who went here and had a lot of great things
to say about it. The business department here is great.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? The transition of careers from being a chef in a fast paced environment to trying
to slow it down and get in a different world. Still kind of fast paced, but in a different
way. It is a personal challenge to myself to be able to dive into a whole different
environment in life.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Hurry up and get back to school. I had been going back and forth. I wish I would have
done it when I first started thinking of it. Most people who wouldn't think being
a chef wouldn't transfer over to accounting, but it does. There are a lot of things
you have to focus on.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Do it.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? Of course my Mom and Dad. They gave me the tools for what I've become. I've had one boss,
Mike Coyle who was my chef for 8-9 years. One of the greatest men, I've ever known
my entire life. If I could be half of what his/was I'd be proud. My parents gave me
the tools, he helped me sharpen them.
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? I chose KU before and Butler beforehand. Then ended up back in Wichita. I just made
more sense.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I was in the military, to pursue a military career. I did that for 7 years at the
Air National Guard. I wanted to pursue more civilian opportunities. I had to choose
a different career field, so I wasn't able to seek the professional career I wanted
in the military, so I decided to do it as a civilian.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Do it right the first time. If anything is worth doing, it's worth doing right.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? It's one of the best universities I've been to. It's right in the sweet spot. It's
not a college town, it has the right vibe.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? I couldn't do this without the support from my girlfriend, Ashley.
If anything is worth doing, it's worth doing right.

that.

GED in 1990, and started to apply to 蹤獲扦 after 25 years, in 2015.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Don't be so impulsive and ready to run off and get married.

Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? At the beginning of the school year (Aug. 2018) we had two guest speakers from 蹤獲扦
come and talk about the TAP program during our Beginning-of-the-Year Annual Meeting.
All of our North West Kansas teachers and paras were there and a lot of my friends
were going to sign up that day. I knew that if I ever wanted to receive a better paycheck
to support my family, I needed to get my bachelors and become a teacher. The best
thing about the TAP program was that it was totally online. That I could do. The worst
thing was we couldn't afford it. However, I work for some of the most amazing and
caring people and they are paying for me to go back to school as long as I work 4-5
years for them to repay the debt. How could I say no to this opportunity?
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I have failed every spelling test I ever took. My grades were mostly C's and D's with
the occasional B growing up. I worked hard and never gave up. One day my 5th grade
teacher asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. My first though was to be a teacher
like her, but I had such bad grades that I knew for sure I would never be smart enough.
So, I told her all I wanted to be was a mom. I sincerely felt that that was all I
was smart enough to be. But, I still worked hard and never gave up. My last three
years of high school I began to have B's and A's. So, I decided to try getting my
Associates in Criminal Justice. Most of my classes I passed with A's and a few with
B's. I didn't want to make a big move to LA for my dream job at the time and my life
went in a different direction with marriage and children. Now, I am taking classes
at 蹤獲扦 to get my bachelors degree and so far, knock on wood, have all A's; and I still
can not pass a spelling test. Trust me my boys would love to tell you all about how
when they quiz mommy she needs to practice just as much as they do. But, through out
it all I work hard and never give up.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? As much as you will face in your life time of 30 years so far, you will be OK. The
fear and uncertainty that you carry with in your heart will one day be replaced with
understanding, hope, and above all love. There will be pain, sadness, and regrets.
Know that if I could go back in time to hold you, I would. But, you will survive with
out the support. You will become a warrior with a strength all your own. My advice
to you my dear younger self is stop blaming yourself for our parents decisions. It
leads us to a deep darkness one we almost never made it back from. Nothing from their
past matters. It is theirs to shoulder the burden. Know that I love you my dear younger
self, even though I know you don't love yourself right now.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? For the working mothers out there, this is the most challenging and difficult thing
you will ever do. Most week nights I'm up till 1a.m. On the weekends I'm on the computer
from sun up till sun down trying to get all the assignments done. My family has suffered
and had to pick up my slack around the house and will continue to have to do so for
another year. Yet these classes are spot on with everything I needed to learn for
me to become a teacher. Not a day goes by that I am not implementing something new
that I learned into my job. My best advice when considering 蹤獲扦? Deeply consider the
sacrifices verses the rewards. If you do decide to take that leap of faith and start
taking classes at 蹤獲扦, I would give you a big virtual hug and say your not alone.
I and other mothers like us your hardships and are here to support you.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? Without the support of my employers at NKESC I would never have had enough money to
afford this. Without the support of my friend and co-workers to help ground me I would
have lost my mind. Without the wonderful teachers I've learned from at 蹤獲扦 I would
not have gained so much growth, not only in my working life but my personal, as well.
And finally without the support of my family I would not have had the heart to keep
going. You have all made this possible for me. Thank you could never convey my feelings
of heart felt gratitude to you all. Loves and Hugs!
Without the wonderful teachers I've learned from at 蹤獲扦 I would not have gained so
much growth, not only in my working life but my personal, as well.
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? I chose 蹤獲扦 for the TAPS program and the convince that it offered.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I am a single mother of three teens working 2 jobs and taking a full class load to
be able to get a better job to provide for my kids. I also make sure to spend time
volunteering with the church middle school and high school groups. I love being involved
in my kids lives and knowing that I am providing them with a good example of perseverance
and strength.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Go to college before your old and have children.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? DO IT! I have been extremely happy with my experience so far.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? My friend and coworker Jennifer Marten who is also in the taps program. We work together
and are able to keep encouraging each other. She is the one who convinced me to start
college in the first place. She has been a great support system!
I chose 蹤獲扦 for the TAPS program and the convince that it offered.
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? Because I never finished when I tried to come earlier in my life. It was a sore spot
with me, that I never finished.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I'm disabled, have major depression and anxiety disorder. I've been able to overcome
it by going to 蹤獲扦. It's been a work in progress. It's been a rewarding one. I've
grown and become stronger. Going back and achieving something is helping me.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Stay in school no matter what because the dreams I have are the ones that will be
achieved will be by getting a degree. I didn't have much work experience. I did everything
but focus on going to school. Then later on, I started getting better jobs with benefits.
Hang in there and keep going to school.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Definitely come, because of the experience I've had. Here at 蹤獲扦, I thought it was
going to be a little old lady on campus. There are so many things going on and so
many people are reaching out to help you. I feel covered by the people who I can talk
to.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? There are so many, two in particular; TRIO Student Support Services, Charity Lowe
is my advisor. And Grady Landrum in Office of Disability Services. Courtney Lockhart,
Dr. Evelyn Kalomo, faculty member who is my mentor, Ashley Cervantes in McNair Scholars,
Shauna Millar.
I've been able to overcome so much by going to 蹤獲扦. I've grown and become stronger.
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? I initially chose 蹤獲扦 in 2008 because my major was Instrumental Music Education and
knew how qualified the instructors were.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? My husband and I had a baby, and school was put on the back-burner. Now, at 31, I
love being in the TAP program. My husband works on the road 10 months out of the year,
our daughter is in the 4th grade, and I'm able to work full time and take care of
my family and our home. My story is unique because my goal has always been to be a
蹤獲扦 Alumni, and regardless of my situation or what changed in my story, I still was
able to choose 蹤獲扦 because they offered programs to fit my situation and changes.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Just suck it up and get it done. Don't let your situations define you.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Personally, I love being a part of this school. I love the diversity of the school,
and what they have to offer. I feel like they'll do what they can to make sure I get
whatever help I need to succeed. It's overwhelming sometimes, and there's a lot of
things involved, but it's college. It's not supposed to be easy. It's life, it's not
supposed to be easy either. You just do it.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? Janci Ramirez has been a life saver. She's been my TAP coach since I've enrolled,
and I just appreciate everything she does for myself. I am so thankful for her positive
words, her understanding mindset, and her goal to make sure everyone is successful.
I genuinely hope that I can show her how much she really is appreciated, because she
makes us a priority, even when her list is just as long as every other persons. Mark
Torkelson, also. He was my mentor. He is a 蹤獲扦 Alumni, and was in the Wichita Symphony.
Everything that I've accomplished this far was because he believed that I could; not
just musically, but he believed in me as a person. He has my infinite respect and
gratitude, and I am eternally a better human because of him.
Personally, I love being a part of this school. I love the diversity of the school,
and what they have to offer. I feel like they'll do what they can to make sure I get

What is unique about your Shocker Story? I am partially deaf, and the funny thing that is if you would have told me that I
would have gone back and been successful, I would have laughed at you. I thought there
were obstacles. 蹤獲扦 have been great giving me the tools that I can to be successful
at it.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? I think that piece of advice would be to listen more to myself and less than to what
others were telling me. Because there were so many events coming up in life that made
me afraid or felt impossible to accomplish because of the things that were told to
me. I knew inside I could do it, but others were telling me I couldn't. It took years
to move out on my own to make me realize just how much I'm capable of.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Jump in and don't be a stranger. I think the best thing is that 蹤獲扦 is so welcoming
and people are really like a family here. When I first came, I was afraid, but now
I would put myself out there and not be afraid to ask for help.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? A big shout out to Anna Lanier has really helped me and recognizing how much potential
I have and being a great mentor to me. She sets a good example for women today in
as far as all of things we are capable of accomplishing.

Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? For the TAP program. I attended 蹤獲扦 in the past; but as a returning adult student
the PASS program made sense. We are huge Shocker Fans and my husband is a 蹤獲扦 Alumni.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I attended 蹤獲扦 prior to having kids 10 Years ago. Feels like its not possible
for that much time to have passed. I have four kids, three in elementary school. I
work full time, and my husband just started his own business. To be a Shocker at this
time and to graduate with all we have going on as a family will but such a huge accomplishment.
It is also so amazing to have my kids see me going to school to finish my goal! They
see my study and doing homework and working hard; I believe that this will be something
that will inspire them to do their very best!
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? My advice to my younger self would be go ahead and finish school. Much easier to finish
before having kids! Study hard and get straight A's. If I can do it 10 years later
you can do it now!
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? DO IT! They are great to work with and make the transition and experience so easy!
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker

for years! As well as my husband he knows how much it means to accomplish this! It
will mean so much for our family! And for my kids who have been rooting me on from
the very beginning!!
蹤獲扦 is great to work with and make the transition and experience so easy!

What is unique about your Shocker Story? I started a company in 2011 and had a customer who runs the MID program, Dr. Jeremy
Patterson. He wanted us in the program not knowing we didn't have a degree. So I came
to get my degree. I also want to get in the master's program.

and curriculum plan for the program. I was already familiar with the school because
I have a daughter at 蹤獲扦 so the decision was easy for me.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? During the course of the program, I had to take a semester off due to being sick.
My advisor for the RB-BSN program was supportive and told me to let them know when
I decided to come back and finish. While I was on break from school, my condition
worsened and I had to be flown to Cleveland, Ohio, to have a double lung transplant.
Two months after surgery, I started back in class and didn't stop until I finished.

Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? I chose 蹤獲扦 because it is well known and I wasn't concerned with being, for lack of
a better word, screwed over. I had some previous issues regarding Devry so I guess
I was a little hand shy.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I am not sure if there is really anything unique. I actually looked in to going to
蹤獲扦 for psychology when I was 21. This was when I first new that I wanted to help
children and adolescents who were abused in some way or troubled in some way. However,
at the time, I was in an abusive relationship, and was made to believe I couldn't
do it. So then once out of that relationship I tried Devry back in 2004, right after
I met my husband. I chose a different path because I still believed I couldn't do
it. Stopped going there after some issues with them, then I had children. In 2015,
I decided I was going to do it. Just go for it and if I started and realized I couldn't
in fact do it, then I would try something else. However, this was where my heart was,
so I finally got back to school in 2016 at BCCC, where I received an associates degree
in liberal arts. I chose to start small and get my core classes out of the way there
and then to move onto 蹤獲扦. I am now about 1 year away from receiving my bachelors
degree in psychology, after which I plan to apply for the graduate program in counseling.

moment.

and I came across the TAP program. This was like a dream come true to me! I was already

way to prepare me for this field.

Always believe in yourself and do not let people limit you from reaching your potential
and being the best you that you can be!
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? I chose 蹤獲扦 for it's location in relation to the VA Medical Center.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I am a disabled Veteran and was attending a community college in northwest Kansas
before relocating to the Wichita area in 2017. My reason for relocating was the fact
that there is not a VA Medical Center in northwest Kansas and I ended up driving to
Wichita on a monthly basis for medical treatments. This was time consuming and difficult
for me as a single mother (with five kids still at home), and at that time I was taking
up to 26 credits in a semester.
I'm attending college because of a great program funded by the VA -- Vocational Rehabilitation
and Education. The program helps veterans, like myself, with service-connected disabilities
go back to school to attain a new education with the goal of obtaining a career that
works with the Veterans' disabilities. I have really enjoyed my two years at 蹤獲扦 earning
a Psychology major and fine arts minor in that time. My educational goal continues
from here, I desire to help other Veterans with service connect disabilities go back
to school the same way I did. My dream is to become a Rehabilitation Counselor with
the same program that afforded me the opportunity to get my education. I am now on
a journey to grad school and I will be forever grateful for the education I received
at 蹤獲扦 University."
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?
"Honestly, I would tell myself not to change a thing.
I am a mom of eight children, (four adults and four teenagers, even two grand babies).
I would tell myself to have all my children before I was 30, just like I did.
I would tell my younger self to join the military, even at 33 years of age...because
it was something I always wanted to do. (I am a fourth generation Veteran, on both
sides of my family. Both of my parents were in the Air force, three out of four of
my grandparents were in the military; grandfathers were Army and Air Force and my
grandmother was a Navy Nurse during WWII (that makes me a third-generation female
Veteran), and then I have a great-grandfather in the Army.)
I would tell my younger self that I will become a stronger female after going to war,
and that my strength will overcome any of my fears while I'm there.
I would tell myself that when my husband can no longer choose the right...to leave.
And rely on my newly gained strength from deployment. Not to worry...the kids and
I will turn out alright.
I would also tell my younger self that when the young girl shows up at my house needing
a bed to sleep in and food to put in her belly...let her in and love her like your
own.
Last thing I would tell my younger self: Go to college, even at 38 years of age. It's
not going to be easy, Tiffany, but it will be worth it!" "Take a tour with your family.
Then share the love and bring your friends on a tour. Don't be afraid to talk to an
academic advisor and/or meet with some of the professors in your field.

all my goals! I honestly wish I would have taken more of his classes!"

Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? Besides God, I would say my pastor, Victor Gordon. He's more intelligent I could hope
to be, he has given me good advice. He used to be a professor, so I found he has good
insight. He's helped make the journey a lot easier.
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? Because it was here. I had to stay in town so I came back to get my bachelor's degree.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I graduated Cowley in 2005, worked in the graphic design industry, working in small
spots. I got burned out personally and professionally. Wanted to switch and go into
Engineering. I was here this semester working on a portfolio and I landed a job at
an ad agency only after 1 semester. I worked my tail off to work to develop a portfolio.
Competed in student portfolio show. I competed and won best logo and everything went
from there.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? You're never as good as you think you are. And stop asking your Mom if your design
looks good.

Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? I've always wanted to go to 蹤獲扦 ever since I was in high school. I just wasn't ready
yet, when I felt ready, I finally came.
What is unique about your Shocker Story? I started going to cosmetology school, I started working in a salon I really liked
working with people. I wanted to help them on the inside, not the superficial beauty.
I decided to pursue psychology finally. Don't give up. Give it a try. My grandparents.
They've raised me from the age of 14 on up. They make sure I have everything I need.
They are amazing people. I've been through a lot of hardships. I want to thank everyone
on the CARE team and all my professors who have helped get me through it. Su Mi Leonard Although I was not born there, Aiea, Hawaii will always be my home!
Field Studies Geology It was the people. The first people that I met when I first
started looking at schools were Chad and Stacy from the Marcus Welcome Center. Stacy
had soon become a huge support for me and introduced me to so many wonderful people
at the university, especially at the Adult Learning Center. To be honest had I not
have felt the overwhelming love and support from the people at the University I do
not think I would have chosen 蹤獲扦. I didn't even think I would fit in when
looking at schools. But this amazing school had some of the best people I've ever
met in my life, and 蹤獲扦has become my second home and I beam
with pride being a Shocker. I do not feel as though my story is unique, but I know
my past is what gives me the strength to push through any difficult times. As I got
comfortable with the supportive people around me I was comfortable enough to open
up to them about being trafficked by my own mother. Not for money, but for control
of the people in her life. It went on until I was 34 years when I was finally able
to break away completely. I moved to Wichita, because someone I knew from my past
told me that they would help me, but in the end it was another situation where I found
myself before, being used. So my daughter and I soon found ourselves living out of
my vehicle, then into a homeless shelter. Because of everything I went through in
the past, being abused physically, mentally, and sexually my whole life my health
had declined, but God was my support and I knew that he had a plan for me. i didn't
know what it was at the time. While at the shelter I was introduced to the Combating
Human Tracking group on campus, and then the Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center downtown.
Going through therapy with them I knew I wanted a better life for my daughter. In
order to do that I had to finish my degree. Then last summer I made that leap and
walked into the Marcus Welcome Center. I broke down and cried. I was so hungry, so
thirsty, so tired, I didn't know what else to do or where to go, but for the first
time I could ever remember I was treated like a human being and someone worth kindness.
They gave me a list of things I had to do, and I made the choice to pay for my admissions
fee instead of groceries. I took a chance, and it was the best decision of my life.
While living at the shelter, scrounging for food, trying to keep my daughter safe
I was going to school. When I would get on campus I felt normal. I felt successful.
I felt free. It was such an amazing feeling. I would then go to the downtown YMCA
and do my homework since they had a Wi-Fi, and my daughter, Abbie got to play with
other kids and swim. She and I both knew how blessed we were by Heavenly Father for
this opportunity. I still have some major health issues, especially this semester,
but I have come so far. Even when I feel like giving up completely because the pain
gets so bad, the people on campus especially at Adult Learning Center, Trio disability,
and Disability services inspire me to keep going. To push through. My love for the
university and everything everyone has done for me and my daughter shines through
our home and into my daughter's heart. She is only 12 but she told me that she wants
to attend 蹤獲扦as well. She is seen at her school throwing the
WuShock to other teachers she know that are shocker alumni. LIke I said, 蹤獲扦
University is our second home. We wouldn't be here, and have met so many amazing people
were it not for the university. And for that we are eternally thankful.
If you had one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be? Never give up. There are going be times when you feel like nothing is going right.
No one will ever listen to your cries. It will seem that life becomes unbearable,
BUT NEVER GIVE UP. Keep fighting. Because you are important. You are treasured. You
are someone great, and GREAT people will see that in you. Those that truly love you
will support you and help you through. You can overcome anything you set your heart
and mind to. "For I know the thoughts I have for you says the Lord. Thoughts of peace
and not of evil things. To give you a future and a hope" Jeremiah 29:11.
What advice would you give someone who is considering 蹤獲扦? Always communicate with your professors. Even if It is to say hello to them before
class. If there is anything you do not know, or you feel overwhelmed, anything keep
a line of communication open with them. One of the amazing things about the University
is how caring and understanding the professors, advisors, and counselors are here.
They want you to succeed, and if you never speak up they do not know what to do to
help you. So keep a line of communication open with them. Some of the best things
I've learned from them were outside of the classroom.
Is there anyone who has helped you succeed that you would like to send a "Shocker
Shout-Out"? There are so many people that I can think of. Dr. Susan Norton for literally everything.
I've been in her office crying, laughing, angry, hungry, lost, tired, you name it
she's seen it all. She always gave me that extra energy to push through. Pam from
Adult learning services.. Oh man this semester I know I was driving her mad with the
printer. But I couldn't have done it without her. Mercedes Lubbers and the others
from Trio disability. She was in the boxing ring so to speak on tackling whatever
came up. Grady and the lovely people at Disability services. It felt amazing to have
people behind me and motivating me. I definitely cannot forget Dylan and Dalton from
adult learning. Those two guys made me feel like a human being. When no one in my
classes would talk to me they would always say hi and talk to me when they see me
around campus or in the office. So many times when I felt so depressed and those two
would cheer me. Not to mention all the coffee they made sure was always on hand for
me to survive my early morning classes. These people are so dear to me. They became
the family I had always longed for. Along with my daughter they give me the strength
to push through. I cannot thank them all enough.
Why did you choose to attend 蹤獲扦? The financial opportunities, the diversity within the campus and the classes were
small.

importance of a higher education to my younger sibling.
