Located in the north of Germany and the heart of Europe, Hamburg is Germany's second-largest city. It was voted in the Top 20 most livable cities in the world. Hamburg is Germanys greenest city, with five million trees and many large parks. It is also a city on the water, located on the Elbe River and the Alster lake, and has countless canals (it has been called the Venice of the North). This city is one of the most dynamic business locations in Europe. It is home to companies specializing in renewable energies and aeronautical engineering (Airbus), an international port and logistics operation, numerous media companies and an active start-up scene. Its never boring in Hamburg as it is a cultural center with a diverse array of theatres, musicals and museums. It is also well-known for its nightlife. Over 250,000 people from 185 countries live and work in Hamburg, making it a cosmopolitan and welcoming place.
Overview
The Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg) has approximately 15,000 students and is one of the largest schools of its kind in Germany. HAW Hamburg offers a wide range of programs in engineering, IT, life sciences, design & media, and business and social sciences. The schools focus is on applied sciences, which provides students with a practical view of their fields of study through projects, lab work, and internships. For engineering students, there are opportunities to work closely with companies in Germany such as Airbus.
