蹤獲扦 Engagement Activities

While the Strategic Engagement and Planning is the tip of the spear for engagement activities at 蹤獲扦, an engaged university has an ethos of service and partnership. 蹤獲扦s approach to engagement is invitational all faculty, staff and students are encouraged to incorporate community engagement into all aspects of their work. Teaching and learning, scholarship and creativity, service and outreach are all avenues that can be used to generate impact.

In addition to the units reporting to the Strategic Engagement and Planning the following units also serve as ambassadors of engagement.

Engagement in Service

  • Service Learning - Service Learning as Wichita state is an experiential learning method that integrates community service with instruction and reflection to improve student civic-mindedness and build community capacity.
  • Community Engagement in Military, Veteran and First Responders
  • Community Service Board - 蹤獲扦 Universitys Community Service Board is a student organization that works to address issues of public concern through service and active citizenship in the community. • WU Crew - Many 蹤獲扦 faculty and staff are involved in community service projects. The Wu Crew is Shocker faculty and staff serving the Wichita community through personal projects and group projects. 蹤獲扦 faculty and staff that volunteer their time on various projects that serve the community can be a part of the Wu Crew.

Engagement in Teaching

  • Service Learning Scholars Fellows implement a service-learning component as part of the curriculum. Each scholar is expected to utilize VolunteerICT for tracking service hours and have their course represented at the annual Service-Learning Showcase. These faculty fellows also serve as a resource to peers in their academic college.
