The Military and Veterans Affairs Council is an advisory and leadership team responsible for developing, overseeing, and monitoring university-wide efforts to achieve Wichita State Universitys commitment to public service as a core institutional and educational value.

Military and Veterans Affairs Advisory Council member commitments include:

  • Participation in monthly meetings with the advisory council
  • Assisting in oversight of the strategic plan for Military and Veterans Affairs including:
    • Addressing current and future issues affecting the admission, continuing enrollment, progress toward a degree, and quality of the university experience
    • Curricular and co-curricular military and first responder-centered learning opportunities
    • Influencing policies, programs and practices supporting military families
    • Advancing the diversity of military and first responder faculty, staff and student bodies
  • Making recommendations to the vice president on ways to improve, modify and effect change in programs and services
  • Serving as an ambassador for university and community conversations related to Military and Veterans Affairs
  • Participation in Military and Veterans Affairs enrichment opportunities
