Ebola Outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Student Health Services has been monitoring the Ebola outbreak occurring in the Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The outbreak started in August 2018 and has continued to grow. The World Health Organization is working with the governments of DRC and neighboring countries to respond to this outbreak.

There are currently no trade or travel restrictions for the affected regions.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has posted a Travel Health Notice for travel to DRC as an Alert Level 2. Practice Enhanced Precautions. This means that while the risk of Ebola infections for most travelers to the DRC is low, travelers to the DRC need to be aware the risk and take steps to protect themselves.
