Faculty/Staff Acute Care Clinic

Beginning, May 1, 2023, Student Health Services will begin providing limited services to support Faculty and Staff. Services are intended to treat minor and acute medical issues; not chronic or long-term. Please see below for FAQ and a list of some services provided. Can Student Health become my Primary Care Physician (PCP)?
  • Our Student Health Faculty and Staff Clinic is intended to provide acute care only.
  • We can provide information to your PCP at your request.
What illnesses and injuries are not eligible for an appointment at the Faculty and Staff Acute Care Clinic?
  • Chronic Illnesses/Problems (i.e. hypertension, coronary artery disease, diabetes, etc.) – Your primary physician will provide the best treatment for the management of your chronic illness
  • Refilling prescription medications for Chronic illnesses/Problems
  • Gynecology and Obstetrics
  • Mental Health Medications
  • Spouses
  • Healthcare for children or advice about your children
  • Emergency Care
  • Workman’s Compensation or work-related injuries or illnesses. Please consult with your supervisor and Human Resources.
  • Motor Vehicle Accidents
When is Student Health Services open and how do I make an appointment for the Faculty/Staff Acute Care Clinic?  
  • Clinic hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday.

Are appointments required at Student Health Services for the Faculty/Staff Acute Care Clinic?  
  • YES, Appointments are required. We will not accept walk-ins at this time.
  • Our main emphasis is continuing to support our student population needs first. Availability during the day for faculty/staff may be limited during high traffic days.
Are there other fees associated with my appointment at Student Health?  
  • If you are over 10 minutes late for your appointment, you will be charged a $25.00 late fee and you may be asked to reschedule.
  • If you cancel less than one hour before your appointment, you will be charged a $25.00 late fee.
How much will appointments cost at Student Health Services for Faculty and Staff?  
  • Most appointments will be $30.00 to $50.00 for an office visit evaluation by a medical professional. The office visit cost does not include the costs for laboratory services, medications, or radiology services.
  • Any copays or deductibles are the responsibility of the employee and amounts vary according to your insurance benefits.
What form of payment does Student Health accept?  
  • Faculty/Staff can pay with cash, credit, Health Savings Account Cards and Flexible Spending Account cards.
Will my health insurance be billed for services rendered at Student Health?  
  • Student Health Services does file third party insurance claims
  • We are in-network with Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Aetna.
  • We will file claims to most insurances, even though we are not in-network with them.
  • Once your insurance pays your claim, any remaining amounts after insurance pays, are the employees responsibility.
  • If you do not want your insurance to be billed, we can take payment at the time of the visit and you are responsible for the costs.
Are there insurance plans that will not be billed for services at Student Health?
  • Student Health is not in network with Tricare, Medicaid and Medicare insurance policies. We cannot file claims for these plans.
  • If you using an insurance plan that is not a State of Kansas employee plan, out-of-network charges may exist
Who will staff the faculty/Staff Clinic?
  • Student Health employees will be providing medical services as licensed medical providers. We have nurse practitioners, physician assistants and registered nurses.
Where will I obtain laboratory testing?
  • In-house laboratory testing such as rapid strep screens, pregnancy tests, glucose, urinalysis and more can be performed and resulted at Student Health.
  • You will be referred to your primary care physician for laboratory testing due to ongoing health conditions or complaints.
Who will be able to see my medical record at Student Health?  
  • Student Health records are kept strictly confidential in accordance with state and federal law.
  • No medical information is released without written consent from the patient/employee or a court order/subpoena. Exceptions to this may include emergencies or matters of public health as allowed by law.
Our student employees will not have access to faculty/staff medical records.  Security access will be identified in our EMR system and will be monitored.
