March 30, 2020 - The relationship between 蹤獲扦's College of Engineering and the Wichita Police Department led to 3D printing of face shields used by first responders.

The 蹤獲扦 Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College is proud to announce eight recipients of the Koch Scholars program for the fall 2020 semester. Each of the students will receive between $30,000 and $45,000 during their four-year attendance at 蹤獲扦.

Feb. 26, 2020 -- 蹤獲扦and 蹤獲扦 Ventures have entered into a new strategic partnership with California-based Lightning Diversion Systems, a Ducommun Company. The partnership involves the exclusive licensing of a lightning strike protection system for rotor blades in the wind turbine industry.

Feb. 20, 2020 -- Dane Laughlin started working for INVISTA, Koch Industries textiles, polymers, fiber and resin producer, while he was a biomedical engineering student at 蹤獲扦 and got hired on full time after graduating in May 2019.

2020 Wallace Scholarship winners

Feb. 7 2020 -- Ten high school seniors have won the 2020 Wallace Scholarship in engineering to attend 蹤獲扦 University.

Feb. 5, 2020 -- Thanks to a generous gift from utility company Evergy, students in the College of Engineering at 蹤獲扦can learn about and conduct research on solar power technology, as well as how to protect an electric grid from short circuiting.

Jan. 31, 2020 -- 蹤獲扦has selected the 2020 recipients of the Harry Gore Memorial Scholarships. Each student will receive a $64,000 scholarship to attend 蹤獲扦in August 2020.

Dec. 19, 2019 -- Those interested in a career in biomedical engineering just received another degree option thats closer to home. 蹤獲扦and Butler Community College have joined forces to create a 2+2 agreement that articulates a complete four-year plan of study in biomedical engineering.

Dec. 18, 2019 -- Stanford Universitys Hasso Plattner Institute of Design has named three 蹤獲扦 students as University Innovation Fellows. Jacob Burns, Molly Carlson and Savannah Redfern will join more than 2,000 Fellows at 267 institutions worldwide.

Dec. 13, 2019 -- Katlyn, a student at USD 259s Levy Special Education Center, has cerebral palsy and is nonverbal. Three 蹤獲扦 Engineering students have made communication a lot easier for her as a class project this semester.

Dec. 9, 2019 -- A $1.25 million gift from the estate of 蹤獲扦alumnus Brenton D. Myers will support the 蹤獲扦 College of Engineering, where Myers earned the degree that helped him build a lifelong career in engineering and airport planning.

Dec. 6, 2019 -- The fourth annual Koch Innovation Challenge, sponsored by Koch Industries and held at 蹤獲扦, will take place from 9 a.m.-noon on Friday, Dec. 6, in 107 Devlin Hall. Teams compiled from the Introduction to Technology & Innovation Freshman seminar course compete for funding to pursue their big idea venture.

Dec. 4, 2019 -- Javier Martinez and Jonathan Lozano hadnt even intended to earn 蹤獲扦s inaugural Parkinson Scholarship in 2018, but they did. Both first-generation college students share their stories of adversity and triumph and offer words of encouragement for future first-gen college hopefuls.

Sustainability, a 蹤獲扦 commitment

Nov. 21, 2019 -- 蹤獲扦is in the middle of a six part sustainability plan to develop and promote initiatives leading to a greater use of resources on campus. The initiatives revolve around facility improvements, new curriculum opportunities and overall student impact.The second goal of these efforts is to focus on reducing the carbon footprint on campus.

Nov. 8, 2019 -- College of Engineering Dean Dennis Livesay has constructed an elaborate, storied LEGO city in his basement over the last six years. Most of it is his own creation and has ties to his personal history.

Oct. 29, 2019 - Its the living room of the engineering building in the Partnership 2 building on the Innovation Campus: GEEKS, a full-service tutoring lab for engineering students. The facility is a free resource that yields a significant amount of success for engineering students.

Oct. 18, 2019 - Four 蹤獲扦 students are studying variable stars. One of their earliest tasks was to choose a variable star, from hundreds of possibilities, to study. The students follow the process that a scientist follows in constructing, analyzing, interpreting, writing and publishing their work. The project is designed to give the students an experience of the essence of the scientific endeavor while contributing to the actual scientific literature.

Oct. 17, 2019 - Senior industrial engineering student Sydney Jaeger is making the most of her college experience. Its not always easy, but she finds a way to balance time as an engineering intern, student, member of 蹤獲扦 Cheer and a campus leader.

Sept. 26, 2019 -Students Zeeshan Kahn and James Meli, along with alumni Emmanuel Daramola and Billi Meli, recently released their mobile application, aimed at connecting students through campus events. With more than 350 downloads so far, they are excited about the possibilities the app provides.

Cybersecurity

Sept. 24, 2019 -- The National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security have designated 蹤獲扦as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education. The designation, which applies through academic year 2024, is in recognition of the 蹤獲扦 College of Engineerings graduate certificate in Information Assurance and Cybersecurity.

Sept. 23, 2019 - Electrical engineering senior, Austin Nefzger, has been an engineering intern for LK Architecture in Wichita for over a year. He is a part of a team responsible for documenting the new and existing electrical diagrams for projects. He believes his hands-on applied learning experiences have provided a pivotal shift in his college career.

Sept. 9, 2019 -- Aerospace engineering senior Khristian Jones interned at Mojave Air and Space Port in California this summer through the Brooke Owens Fellowship program. Among the many experiences she received in her internship, she flew with a Space Shuttle commander and spoke with the NASA administrator.
