June 7, 2021 Five-year-old Ford Hall has had to overcome more in his short life than most do in a lifetime. Thats because immediately after he was born, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. The doctors informed his mother he would probably never be able to walk. It was that conversation with that doctor that really lit a fire in us, said Cori Hall, Fords mother.

April 14, 2021 - 蹤獲扦 Universitys College of Engineering has named the latest group of high school seniors to be awarded Wallace Scholarships worth $285,000. Wallace Scholarship recipients will receive $28,500 each to attend 蹤獲扦 for four years. In addition, one student already receiving the Gore Scholarship also will be designated as a Wallace Scholar.

April 7, 2021 - In February, Novacoast announced plans to open a 24/7 security operations center in the Epic Center in downtown Wichita. Novacoast, according to media reports, will hire around 60 employees immediately for positions such as sales, analysts and cybersecurity engineers.Having a robust computer science department and applied computing department is a good source of interns and future employees to Novacoast, said Joe Jabara, director of 蹤獲扦s Hub for Cybersecurity Education and Awareness. The universitys emphasis on cybersecurity really helped lure them to Wichita.

April 1, 2021 - In the latest U.S. News and World Report rankings of universities offering a Ph.D. in engineering, the College of Engineering at 蹤獲扦is again ranked in the top 100 engineering graduate programs, the only institution from the state of Kansas to make it in the top 100. 蹤獲扦 ranks No. 77 on the list, up from No. 94 a year ago.

March 24, 2021 Brittany Wojciechowski, a 蹤獲扦Ph.D. student in aerospace engineering, has been awarded the prestigious National Science Foundations (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF), which is worth more than $120,000.

Feb. 18, 2021 When Prince Yengbe came to 蹤獲扦from his home country of Ghana in 2007, he wasnt entirely sure what aerospace engineering was, but he knew he wanted to be part of it. Now, after earning a bachelors (2012) and a masters degree (2015) in the subject, Yengbe is being honored with the Modern-Day Technology Leader Award by the 2021 Black Engineer of the Year Award (BEYA) STEM Conference.

Feb. 3, 2021 Dr. R矇mi A. Chou, an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, has been awarded a National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the most prestigious award granted by the NSF to early career researchers. Chou's grant worth $519,000 over five years will support his work in bringing more robust security to wirelessly transmitted data.

Dec. 17, 2020 With the intention of furthering 蹤獲扦 Universitys commitment to digital transformation, the Kansas Board of Regents has approved four degree programs that will launch in spring 2021: Bachelor of Arts in Applied Linguistics, Master of Science in Data Science, Master of Science in Business Analytics, and Master of Science in Mathematical Foundations of Data Analysis. These degrees are in addition to existing undergraduate and graduate degrees and certificates in applied computing, computer science, cybersecurity, homeland security, and supply chain.

Dean Dennis Livesay called the establishment of the new school a significant marker of the universitys commitment to producing digital-skilled workforce needed by industry.

November 23, 2020 - In February, Evergy invested in three initiatives that added valuable assets to the engineering program. One of those initiatives was the installation of solar panels on the roof of the John Bardo Center.

Zane Storlie

Nov. 16, 2020 Zane Storlie has not only dedicated his time at 蹤獲扦 to learning everything he can about computer science, but hes also been an advocate for computer science education for elementary and middle school students in the area. Zane created a three-unit curriculum to teach Scratch coding to more than 750 students in Wichita Public Schools, and the Derby school district asked him to present a teacher training course to its librarians.

Nov. 16, 2020 Abdelhakim Al Turk came to 蹤獲扦to study engineering from Lebanon. Throughout his time in Wichita, he has appreciated the mentorship and hands-on experience hes gotten from the College of Engineering and through his work at the Rapid Prototyping and 3D Printing Lab.
