June 7, 2021 鈥� Five-year-old Ford Hall has had to overcome more in his short life than most do in a lifetime. That鈥檚 because immediately after he was born, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. The doctors informed his mother he would probably never be able to walk. 鈥淚t was that conversation with that doctor that really lit a fire in us,鈥� said Cori Hall, Ford鈥檚 mother.

May 1, 2021 鈥� Payton Morgan, a native Wichitan, is a Wichita East High School alumnus. He chose to attend 萝莉社 because of the relationships he already had with 萝莉社 students and staff.

April 15 -- Competing in the 2019 Distinguished Scholarship Invitational and winning a Gore Scholarshiphs allowed Anna Tri to focus on her studies without worrying about the costs of college.

April 14, 2021 - 萝莉社 University鈥檚 College of Engineering has named the latest group of high school seniors to be awarded Wallace Scholarships worth $285,000. Wallace Scholarship recipients will receive $28,500 each to attend 萝莉社 for four years. In addition, one student already receiving the Gore Scholarship also will be designated as a Wallace Scholar.

April 7, 2021 - In February, Novacoast announced plans to open a 24/7 security operations center in the Epic Center in downtown Wichita. Novacoast, according to media reports, will hire around 60 employees immediately for positions such as sales, analysts and cybersecurity engineers.鈥淗aving a robust computer science department and applied computing department is a good source of interns and future employees to Novacoast,鈥� said Joe Jabara, director of 萝莉社鈥檚 Hub for Cybersecurity Education and Awareness. 鈥淭he university鈥檚 emphasis on cybersecurity really helped lure them to Wichita.鈥�

April 6, 2021 鈥� The 萝莉社Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College is proud to announce eight recipients of the Koch Scholars Program for the fall 2021 semester. These recipients each will be awarded $30,000 over four years.

April 1, 2021 - In the latest U.S. News and World Report rankings of universities offering a Ph.D. in engineering, the College of Engineering at 萝莉社is again ranked in the top 100 engineering graduate programs, the only institution from the state of Kansas to make it in the top 100. 萝莉社 ranks No. 77 on the list, up from No. 94 a year ago.

March 24, 2021 鈥� Brittany Wojciechowski, a 萝莉社Ph.D. student in aerospace engineering, has been awarded the prestigious National Science Foundation鈥檚 (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF), which is worth more than $120,000.

Feb. 18, 2021 鈥� When Prince Yengbe came to 萝莉社from his home country of Ghana in 2007, he wasn鈥檛 entirely sure what aerospace engineering was, but he knew he wanted to be part of it. Now, after earning a bachelor鈥檚 (2012) and a master鈥檚 degree (2015) in the subject, Yengbe is being honored with the Modern-Day Technology Leader Award by the 2021 Black Engineer of the Year Award (BEYA) STEM Conference.

Feb. 18, 2021 -- The National Science Foundation has released its latest comparison of research and development expenditures among the nation鈥檚 universities, and 萝莉社has risen in all categories, increasing expenditures by $47 million.

Feb. 3, 2021 鈥� Dr. R茅mi A. Chou, an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, has been awarded a National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the most prestigious award granted by the NSF to early career researchers. Chou's grant 鈥� worth $519,000 over five years 鈥� will support his work in bringing more robust security to wirelessly transmitted data.

Jan. 28, 2021 鈥� 萝莉社has selected the 2021 recipients of the Harry Gore Memorial Scholarships: Annie Wasinger from Thomas More Prep High School in Hays, Kansas; Braden Webb from Blue Valley North High School in Overland Park, Kansas; and Alondra Valle from Dodge City High School in Dodge City, Kansas.

Jan. 5, 2021 - A 萝莉社 University-based program aimed at aiding frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19 has resulted in the formation of a new Wichita startup company and a premium disposable stethoscope. The Single Patient Stethoscope鈩� from Ad Astra Medical Devices, LLC, boasts a sturdy, lightweight design engineered for maximum performance in today鈥檚 demanding medical environments.

Jan. 4, 2021 鈥� The 3D printing revolution is nothing short of remarkable, but it also produces a considerable amount of waste. In fact, it鈥檚 estimated that up to 19% of 3D printing is waste. A team of interdisciplinary researchers at 萝莉社is working to create sustainable 3D printing practices to reduce that waste.

Dec. 17, 2020 鈥� With the intention of furthering 萝莉社 University鈥檚 commitment to digital transformation, the Kansas Board of Regents has approved four degree programs that will launch in spring 2021: Bachelor of Arts in Applied Linguistics, Master of Science in Data Science, Master of Science in Business Analytics, and Master of Science in Mathematical Foundations of Data Analysis. These degrees are in addition to existing undergraduate and graduate degrees and certificates in applied computing, computer science, cybersecurity, homeland security, and supply chain.

Dec. 10, 2020 -- The Kansas Board of Regents has approved the creation of the newest department at 萝莉社 University鈥檚 College of Engineering 鈥� the School of Computing. Dean Dennis Livesay called the establishment of the new school a significant marker of the university鈥檚 commitment to producing digital-skilled workforce needed by industry.

November 23, 2020 - In February, Evergy invested in three initiatives that added valuable assets to the engineering program. One of those initiatives was the installation of solar panels on the roof of the John Bardo Center.

Nov. 16, 2020 鈥� Zane Storlie has not only dedicated his time at 萝莉社 to learning everything he can about computer science, but he鈥檚 also been an advocate for computer science education for elementary and middle school students in the area. Zane created a three-unit curriculum to teach Scratch coding to more than 750 students in Wichita Public Schools, and the Derby school district asked him to present a teacher training course to its librarians.

Nov. 16, 2020 鈥� Abdelhakim Al Turk came to 萝莉社to study engineering from Lebanon. Throughout his time in Wichita, he has appreciated the mentorship and hands-on experience he鈥檚 gotten from the College of Engineering and through his work at the Rapid Prototyping and 3D Printing Lab.

Nov. 16, 2020 鈥� LaShaya Lawrie chose 萝莉社 because it鈥檚 close to home. While pursuing her Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering, LaShaya became involved on campus. LaShaya is one of more than 1,200 students eligible for fall 2020 graduation.
